The last big unknown before launch is closed: Grand Theft Auto VI has a price. The standard edition costs $79.99, the Ultimate Edition $99.99, and pre-orders are already live across every major storefront.

What each edition costs

EditionPriceWhat you get
Standard$79.99The base game
Ultimate$99.99Base game plus cosmetic items and in-game bonuses, including vehicles for Jason and Lucia

The $79.99 figure puts GTA 6 at the top of the current console pricing tier rather than beyond it — the same level several publishers moved to over the past two years.

Where to pre-order

Pre-orders are open on the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, the Rockstar Store and at retailers. A digital pre-order carries across automatically if the release date shifts again, which is worth remembering given that this game has already been delayed twice.

Before you commit

Digital pre-orders can be refunded until release under the usual store rules. Physical pre-orders follow the retailer's policy instead, and those vary a lot.

The physical edition has no disc

This is the detail that generated most of the noise. The boxed version contains a download code, not a disc, and reaches shops on 12 November — a week ahead of the digital launch on 19 November.

Practically, that means three things:

  • you cannot install offline from the box, so the full download is mandatory;
  • the "physical" copy has no resale value as a used disc once the code is redeemed;
  • buying the box early does not let you play early — the code unlocks on release day.

If you were planning to buy physically to save on bandwidth, that plan no longer works.

What is still unannounced

A PC version has no date. Details of the online mode have not been shared. Neither of those changed with the pricing announcement — see the status board for everything we track, with the date of the last check on each line.

Full breakdown of editions and regional pricing lives on the price page.
